iPart I: Quire signatures with letters (L–V) and Arabic numbers (2–11)
occasionally visible in the lower margin of the last leaf of the previous and
first leaf of a new quire. Occasionally catchwords also visible in the lower
margin of the last verso of a quire.
                A leaf missing between fols. 11 and 12, 33 and 34, 52 and 53; two
leaves missing between fols. 6 and 7; seven leaves (two final leaves of the
quire with fols. 59–66 and the entire first half of the quire with fols. 67–71)
missing between fols. 66 and 67. The outermost bifolium of the quire with fols.
99–104 is missing. Fol. 113 has been pasted to the last leaf of the preceding
quire. Fols. 114–117 pasted together in the gutters. Fol. 30 is a
                    singleton.
The manuscript consists of two clearly separate sections: the
first (fols. 1–81) contains a legal text of
saec. XV
written on parchment, and the second (fols. 82–117) has a
                    Finnish manual of saec. XVI
 as its
main text. This section starts with four leaves (fols. 82–85), which have been
added later and contain a royal decree written in a hand of saec. XVII
.The leaves have
been cropped at a rebinding, so that many of the article numbers written in the
margins have been lost. A modern hand has entered the numbers with a pencil. The

Finnish
portion of the manuscript has also been cropped and
tightly bound. The first part of the manuscript is in places heavily stained,
worn and difficult to read. There are occasional holes in the parchment (a
larger one on fol. 77). The second part of the manuscript is in better
condition.I: one column with vertical and horizontal bounding lines, 29–31
lines of text; II: one unruled column with
              c
. 21–22 lines
of text. The first part written with a modest but legible cursive of
              saec. XV
. The second part contains two hands, one
writing a cursive of saec. XVII
(fols. –) and the other a cursive of saec. XVI
(–).A few additional hands were responsible for notes and additions in part I. Some of
these notes have been almost entirely cropped away.
Part I: initials are simple red lombards. Headings in the upper margin and article
numbers in the outer margin in red. Underlining and emphasis of majuscules also in
                red.

A renewed (half skin) binding from
            saec.

, typical of Cronstedt’s collection: dark brown calf with light
stained paper over wooden boards. One flyleaf added at the beginning and end of the
manuscript. The manuscript contains two separate sections. I: and

The small size and modest quality of the law book suggest it may have been intended
for personal use. If the two parts were already together in saec. XVI
, we may assume
that the legal manuscript was in Finland
 at
that time. However, since the volume was rebound, it is possible that the two texts
were combined later. There is no indication of the owner of the manuscript. It came to be a part of the

            Cronstedt collection
(‘Coll. Cronstedt’, no. 59 (inner front cover)), which means it must have ended up in Sweden
