Catchwords written in the lower margin of the last page of a quire,
often cropped.
A separate bifolium has been cropped before the current first quire.
Fol. 8 is a singleton. Fols. 40–46 seem to have been added on later. They are
formed of three bifolia and an added leaf (fol. 45), which were added to the
quire ranging from fol. 38 to fol. 48. They are written by a younger hand, the
parchment is noticeably less stained than elsewhere in the manuscript, and they
contain a paper bifolium (fols. 41 and 44). Fol. 45 is a singleton originally
pasted to fol. 44, now almost completely loose. Fol. 60 is also a later
replacement pasted to a stub. One (apparently empty) leaf has been cropped after
fol. 73. Fols. 117–120 are a later addition of
saec. XVI
.The manuscript is in good overall condition.
There is some staining and a few small holes in the parchment, but no serious
damage.
one ruled column with 23 lines of
text
One main hand writing a gothic textualis of the
saec. XIV
. On fols. 40–46 a younger
hand, imitative of the main one. Fol. 60 may also be a later addition.2
On fols. 117–118 there are additions to documents written in a cursive of
saec. XVI
. A few other hands of saec. XV and XVI
have made notes in
the margins against the main text.Blue and red lombards, usually with penwork flourishing in both colours, or in red,
or in two shades of red at the beginning of chapters (3–4 lines high). Simple
lombards at the beginning of articles (2 lines high).
Fol. : letters ‘I S’ drawn in black ink inside an initial.
Space has regularly been left for rubrics before the articles. However, the rubrics
have been added in only a few instances. Chapter headings in the upper margin in
red. Article number in the outer margin in black. Highlighting of the letters and
occasional paraph marks in red.
Rebacked half-binding of light brown calf with dark brown stained paper over wooden
boards, typical of Cronstedt's collection. Remnants of two hook-clasps are visible
at the fore-edge of both covers. Labels pasted to the spine show the shelf-mark and
contents of the book. Number ‘49’ stamped on a piece of red leather on the spine.
Pastedowns are marbled paper. The covers are badly worn.
The manuscript contains a copy of . It was
written by a skilled scribe apparently drawing on several different exemplars. Some
finishing touches are lacking (for example, the rubrics are not supplied). There are
also nearly no additions or other marks of use.

A later hand has added, at the back of the manuscript, copies of two judgements
given in
Finland
, both appearing in sources connected to Finland.
It is sufficient to indicate that the manuscript may have been in Finland
in saec. XVI
.By
saec. XVIII
the manuscript
had come into the hands of Abraham Erik
Gyllengrip
. Fol. : ‘Possessor Abrahamus Ericus
Gyllengrijp’, indicating Abraham Erik Gyllengrip
(d. 1786).Later the manuscript belonged to
Cronstedska samling
, which was
donated to Uppsala University Library
in 1767
(see inside front cover). Modern shelf-mark ‘B 23’ on the inner front
cover and spine. A previous shelf-mark(?) ‘49’ also on the spine. Uppsala University
Library’s stamp on fol. .Cataloguer
