and . Fols. 24–26 are formed of two large
folia that have been folded and pasted on to fol. , and to
each other. Two folia are cropped before fol. 106 and four unnumbered blank
leaves are entered after it. Fol. 110, originally part of the quire with fols.
107–109, is loose. Four unnumbered modern blank leaves are entered after fol.
110. One leaf cropped after fol. 121. Fols. 124–125 are a bifolium pasted on to
fol. 126. A blank unnumbered bifolium has been pasted on to fol.
. Fols. 144–146 have been pasted together in the gutter,
fol. 143 was possibly originally part of this quire. Fol. 146 is followed by an
unnumbered blank leaf.
The manuscript consists of separate sections with
later material included in the middle. Fols. 1–105 and 131–146 are written by
the same scribe and have originally belonged together. Fols. 111–121 may have
also belonged to the original manuscript. Other parts were likely added in
connection with the rebinding, which may have also led to the
Kyrkobalk
being placed at the end of the manuscript. The
manuscript shows signs of moisture damage. A tear in the lower part of fols. 145
and 146 has been repaired by pasting blank paper on the leaves. The covers are
badly worn.
one unruled column with 32–36 lines of text.
One main hand writing both the and
in a book cursive of
Landslag
Kyrkobalk
saec. XVI
. The scribe may also have
been responsible for fols. –, and possibly
even fols. – written in a more rapid cursive.
According to Schlyter (1869, LXII–LXIII)
, the same scribe is
responsible for Uppsala, University Library, B 2
, which
includes a section written in Finnish
. This strongly suggests the
scribe was Finnish. The hands are indeed similar, and there seems to be a
relationship between the manuscripts (they contain, for example, the same addition
on Swedish history entered in KgB 1). However, UUB, B 2 is written in a
lower-quality script than this one.Schlyter also suggests that the text from fol. onwards was
written by the same scribe but at a later date. This is difficult to confirm, but
the ink and script do undergo some changes at this point. Also the watermarks show
that a change in paper occurred at this point as well.

colour at the beginnings of chapters and articles. Chapter headlines in the upper
margins.

(?)) with
blue cardboard covers, which are worn. A piece missing from the back cover. Paper
pastedowns. Pasted paper with the modern shelf-mark on the front cover. A badly worn
pasted paper with the old shelf-mark on the spine. The manuscript contains written
by a steady and experienced hand. The work was apparently done by the same scribe
responsible for
Kristoffer
’s Landslag
Uppsala, University Library, B 2
, which was donated to Sigfried
Luchoinen
in 1604
and probably written by a Finnish scribe in Finland. That would
indicate that this manuscript also originated in Finland
. A relationship between the
two manuscripts is also indicated by the fact that there are textual similarities
with UUB, B 2, albeit the latter contains more errors. The manuscript was
apparently rebound at some point when some additional leaves were added. Possibly
the placing of the also took place during the rebinding.
Kyrkobalk
after the Landslag
By
1704
the manuscript was in private hands, apparently in Sweden
. On
the verso side of the last leaf (unnumbered), in a hand of saec. XVIII
: ‘Suen Nilson
årell har denne bok Completteradt och ifrån maculatur salverat die St. Pentecostis
1704. Af Mr. Isac Quillman utbytt.’ In 1746
the book was sold at an auction
according to the record on the front flyleaf (following a note of saec. XVIII
concerning the law): ‘Per auct[ione] Publ[ico] in poss[essionem] Bergmanni
perv[enit] 1746’.The manuscript was acquired for the Swedish collector
Nils
Brocman
(1731–1770) and given the shelf-mark n:o 49. After his death, parts of the
collection were donated to Antikvitetsarkiv
. From there, it presumably came to the National Library
of Sweden
with other manuscripts in 1780
. The earlier shelf-mark, ‘n:o 36’, was registered on the inner front
cover, along with the new one, ‘B 119’.Cataloguer
