In good condition.
Text in a single column, not ruled.
One main hand; summaries and some additions perhaps by another. Stylistically typical of
mid-16th-century
Swedish cameral records. Brown ink.
No decoration.
No covers. All quires sewn through their centrefolds and then tacketed together.
A clearly written
tenant register
of the estates of
Nynäs
,
Vik
, and
Lahis
. This register is an example of records being rewritten or copied several times. Compare this to three other tenant registers from
1553
, all concerning the same estates (
Stockholm, National Archives, Adliga ätten Bielke, Vol. 4, records i (fol. 92–138) and ii (quires 5–8), and Vol. 5, record ii
).
The record is part of a large block of records from the
mid-16th century
pertaining to the estates of
Nynäs
,
Vik
,
Kyllelä
, and
Lahis
.
The financial records of
Nynäs
and related estates came to the Swedish Crown, and later the
Swedish National Archives
, when the possessions and archives of
Hogenskild Bielke
were confiscated following his execution in
1605
(see
Introduction
to these descriptions).
Nota bene!
This record was incorrectly placed inside Volume 3 of this same collection in November 2014. The microfilm at the National Archives in Helsinki (Fr 194) correctly shows this record as part of Volume 5 which was missing quire “2” of its sequence.
