Register of finances
Two registers that have been bound together, both pertaining to the estates of
Nynäs
, Vik
, and
Lahis
(or possibly only one or two of them). The first
concerns the years 1523−1530
and is more
miscellaneous in nature. It covers folios 1−53 and 76, and consists of notes on
expenses and incomes. Some examples of headings: Fol. : 'Wbyrd aff tawasteland saxamakij sokn'.
Fol. : 'Anno dni Md23
o
ffra höste oc
til nyars dagh'.Fol. : 'Anno dni mdxxvii thn tiidh ath Nyenas bleff branth'.
Fol. : 'tredie aareth i rogh'.
Fol. : 'anno dni mdxxx'.
Fol. : 'Vtgipth I wadmal anno dni mdxvii'.
The register is not ordered chronologically. The buildings of
Nynäs
estate are
known to have burnt down in 1527
and some of the notes are datable by
reference to this. The second register concerns the year
1551
and is a
well-structured tenant register of the estates of Nynäs
,
Vik
, and Lahis
.By folio:

Foliation (1–76) in the upper right-hand corner. Foliation skips blank
folios (ten altogether), and counts fol. 61 twice, and therefore runs only to
76.
Unclear folio structure.
Some leaves have been cut out and their size varies considerably. The
register from 1551 (fols. 54–75) differs structurally from the preceding
folios.
Text in a single column, not ruled.
Different hands for fols. 1−53 (+76) and 54−75. Possibly several hands in the first
section also. Black and brown ink. On fol. , a note identifies the
owner – and possibly also the scribe – of the booklet as
Petrus Erici
.A pentagram scratched on the cover.
A limp binding of light brown leather. The covers are formed of two separate pieces
of leather laced together at the back cover with leather thongs. A contemporary hand
has written the beginning of Psalm 46, 'Omnes gentes plaudite manibus' on the front
cover. Apart from this, the cover features later archival markings 'Räkn. f. Nynäs i
Finland', '1527–30'.
A manuscript consisting of two parts, one from
1523 to 1530
, and the
other from 1551
. The stylistic differences are clear, and the older one is much less
clearly organized. Both registers are written in a narrow folio format suggesting
they are the original versions. The registers are part of a large block of
records from the
16th century
pertaining to the estates of Nynäs
, Vik
, and Lahis
,
which were managed as a whole. A likely place of writing is Nynäs
estate, but the
records could equally well have been written elsewhere. The financial records of
Nynäs
and related estates came to the Swedish Crown, and
later the Swedish National Archives
, when the possessions and
archives of Hogenskild Bielke
were confiscated
following his execution in 1605
(see Introduction
to these descriptions).Cataloguer
