Now preserved such that the bifolia have been pressed flat. The edges of some folios have suffered damage, the first folio in particular.
Text in a single column, not ruled.
One or two hands typical of cameral records of the latter half of the 16th century. Black and brown ink.
No decoration.
No covers. Sewn through the centrefold.
A record that was part of manorial account of
Lahis
estate. Mentions
Marcus Jörensson
(fol. 1), who was presumably the bailiff, and the owner of the estate,
Anna Hogenskild
(fol. 2). The account is clearly written and structured, and the most likely place of writing is Lahis estate.
The estate of
Lahis
was part of a larger set of possessions in
Finland
which also included the estates of
Nynäs
and
Vik
along with their tenant farms.
The financial records of
Nynäs
and related estates came to the Swedish Crown, and later the
Swedish National Archives
, when the possessions and archives of
Hogenskild Bielke
were confiscated following his execution in
1605
(see
Introduction
to these descriptions).
