A record of an inventory taken 12 September
1574
at
Nynäs
estate situated in Nousis
parish near Åbo. The inventory was taken after the term of Mats
Olsson
as bailiff had ended. (According to Suvanto (1995,
75)
, Mats Olsson was bailiff of Nynäs 1549−1573. A copy of the letter
appointing him is Stockholm, National Archives, Bielkesamlingen, 02
Adliga ätten Bielke, Nils Pedersson Bielke (†1550), Vol. 3: Godshandlingar
1546–1550 / E 1987, 6a, fol. 2
.) Witnessing the inventory were
Olaus Jacobi
, parson of Lemu
, and
Stephanus Henrici
, parson of Nousis
(For both of whom, see the National Biography: http://www.kansallisbiografia.fi/paimenmuisto/?pid=5051
and http://www.kansallisbiografia.fi/paimenmuisto/?eid=2375
). The seals of
the parsons have originally been attached to fol. but are now
lost. According to Arwidsson (1858, 183)
they still survived in the
1850s: 'Tvenne väl bibehållna sigill finnas under
handlingen'
.The document is an original, as proven by the now lost
seals. The record was most likely written as the inventory progressed or as a fair
copy made immediately afterwards.
The estate of Nynäs was part of a larger set
of possessions in Finland which also included the estates of
Vik
and Lahis
along with their
tenant farms.The financial records of
Nynäs
came to the Swedish Crown, and later the
Swedish National Archives
, when the possessions and archives of
Hogenskild Bielke
were confiscated following his
execution in 1605
(see Introduction
to these descriptions). Now preserved in an unmarked
archival paper sleeve with several unconnected documents.
