,
Lahis
estate?
A
financial register
revolving around

estate and its tenants.
A financial register revolving around
Lahis
estate and its tenants. The period involved stretches from at least
1514 to 1521
(fol. : 'Anno dni m dx
o
iiij'; fol. : 'Anno dni mdxxi'). The contents mostly comprise notes on the finances of Lahis and its tenants, e.g. payments of various kinds, slaughtered cattle, etc.
Paper
100 folios.
11,5cm × 30cm
Foliation in pencil at the bottom of the
recto
side but has inconsistencies.
Unclear quire structure.
Not ruled.
Probably several hands, dark and light brown ink.
No decoration.
Limp binding of brown leather, the covers slightly smaller than the text-block (12 × 27,5). A leather wrap-around flap.
A financial record revolving mostly around
Lahis
estate but most naturally seen as part of a large collection of surviving manuscripts concerning the estate-complex of
Nynäs
,
Vik
, and Lahis. This register is the second oldest in the series of
sixteenth-century
financial records pertaining to these estates.
The financial records of Nynäs and related estates came to the Swedish Crown, and later the
Swedish National Archives
, when the possessions and archives of
Hogenskild Bielke
were confiscated following his execution in
1605
(see
Introduction
to these descriptions).
An archival note attached to the front cover reads: 'C52. Räkenskaper för Nynäs I Finland 1514−
1519
1520 (slägt
Fleming
Bielke o. Tott)' and 'Lahis'. Previously part of the Bielkesamlingen from which it has been moved to Codices C (f. 1 has a marking 'Från Bielkesamlingen').
