The manuscript is in relatively good condition: there is some fraying at
the edges, fol. 1 is dirtied, and fols. 1–3 have a tear in the upper margin,
causing some loss of text.
One unruled column with a varying number of lines.
One main hand writing a fast and somewhat careless cursive script.
No decoration.
No covers; bound through the centerfold.
The manuscript contains
court records
from sessions in Åland
, 1588
. They are
written in a rather rapid cursive script, but as there are only a few additions or
cancellations, this may well be the transcript. In all likelihood, the writing of
the records took place soon after the court proceedings. ‘Åland 1588’ written in ink in the lower margin of fol. . Apart from this, no
additional markings.
There is no information on the later history of the manuscript. Since it is stored
with other court records originating from
Åland
in saec. XVI and XVII
, it probably
came to Sweden as part of a local archive. Possibly this was housed at the Svea
court of appeals
prior to being moved to the Swedish National Archives
