There is moisture damage throughout the manuscript in the upper margin. Especially at the beginning this has caused the ink to fade and become difficult to read. Apart from this there are some tears in the paper and fraying along the edges.
Watermarks suggest the manuscript was composed one year
at a time: fols. 1–22: a

No decoration; the layout and other features serve practical purposes.
Limp binding of brown leather. It features a wrap-around flap from the lower cover, which is used to close the binding. There are two holes visible in the back cover. They were presumably used to insert leather straps or strings to fasten the flap. At the front a modern pastedown with the shelf-mark, a headline ‘Birger Trolles räkenskapsbok för Åbo slot och län 1463, 1464’, and reference to the modern edition.
