The foliation skips the flyleaves in the beginning and the end (one unnumbered flyleaf at the beginning and nine at the end of the manuscript), and the three blank leaves following fol. 17. 1 + VI12 + IV17(+3) + 5VI77 + VIII93 + 4VI141 + 9 Catchwords found on fols. 30r, 41v, 53v, 65v, 77v, 93v, 105v, 117v, 129v in the lower margin.

The manuscript is in good overall condition. There is some dirt on the leaves and the manuscript has been cropped in a way which has resulted in some losses to the marginalia and article numbers.

The manuscript features several different watermarks: Unicorns are found on fols. 58–124 (cf. Briquet: Licorne, 9997–9999). Ox head of the type Piccard, Ochsenkopf, XIII, 161–190, is found on fols. 1–17 and on the unnumbered flyleaves at the end of the manuscript. Ox head of the type, Piccard, Ochsenkopf, I, 701–742, is found on fols. 18–62. Ox head of the type Piccard, Ochsenkopf, IX, 161–176, is found on fols. 130–138. A letter Y is found on fols. 134–137 (cf. Briquet: Lettre Y, 9182–9184). For more details, see Åström 2013, 177.

One main hand writing a cursive. The scribe, Gunnar Bagge, dated his work to 1483. On fol. 1r: ‘Item J tesse book finness tesso artikuli som gwnnar baggie haffwer scriffued aff konungh Karls book i(?) gwdz wald är och konung affuer alth Swärikie waar etc. Här Steen stwre Swärikis rike forstondare Arum äpter gudz födilssä tiid mcdlxxx3o’.

On fol. 140v, a struck-through note: ‘Anno domini mcdlxxx3o In vigilia sancti henrici cumpletum est h[unc?] per manus gwnnar baggie Rike[se]ndz forestondare här sten [stwre] ... a abo ... scal [bröröms] närware[nde] g[re]g[ir]s Jacopsson I ware daga gaff nadogh här biscop koort vi(?) lester(?) til hälegga hemming sancteras’. The bishop could be Konrad Bitz of Turku (Kort Rogge of Strängnäs is the only alternative at this time).

The kalendar seems to be by another hand.

A few contemporary hands write marginal additions.

The decorative scheme is very simple, most likely by the scribe himself. At the beginnings of chapters there are occasionally large (up to 12 lines high) multi-coloured initials with red, black, blue and green. On fols. 10r, 20v, the initials include an illumination of a dragon. In the beginning of articles, small lombards in red. Rubrics, highlighting of majuscules, paraphs, article numbers and headings in the upper margin in red.

Parchment wrappers from a saec. XIV–XV antiphonary; 33 × 20*, which contains a segment from the liturgy of St Erik. Pastedowns and flyleaves of more recent paper. On the spine, remnants of a pasted paper label with the old shelf-mark.

The manuscript contains Magnus Eriksson’s <hi rend="italic">Landslag</hi> along with a few other legal texts. They were all written by the same scribe who identified himself as Gunnar Bagge and dated the manuscript to 1483 (fols. 1r and 140v), also mentioning that some of it was based on a manuscript belonging to King Karl Knutsson (d. 1470). Based on the texts and language, Beckman (1919, 24) has suggested the manuscript may be connected to Finland. In the crossed-out dedication on fol. 140v, Bishop Kort (= Konrad Bitz?), and possibly also the city of Turku, are mentioned, which might point in this direction as well.

The kalendar, which seems to be the work of another scribe, is intended for the diocese of Uppsala.

In the upper margin of fol. 1r, a note on purchase of the manuscript ‘pro iiii marcis’.

The manuscript belonged to the ‘Brahiska och Wrangelska’ manuscript collection at Skokloster with no. 13 (see inner front cover). Later it had the shelf-mark ‘Cod. Skokl. 143 4o’ and currently it is shelf-marked ‘E 9046’ at the Swedish National Archives.
