                <condition><p>Loose quires, the original order of which is somewhat uncertain (see
                    e.g. the break in the chronological series at fol. <locus>82r</locus>). It may
                    be that the register was initially kept as separate quires, which were only
                    bound together at a later date. Individual folia depart from the general format
                    of the leaves, and folia are at times trimmed.</p><p>The present archival unit
                    contains more material, but the 140 folia described here appear to form an
                    original codicological unit, with dimensions that are distinct from the rest of
                    the book but which correspond to the dimensions of the parchment leaf used as
                    their cover (<ref type="mss">Turku, The Provincial Archives of Turku, The Rauma
                      Magistrate’s Archives, HD:1</ref>). There is also an unfoliated bifolium
                    [fols. 141–142] and similarly unfoliated fragments of four folia (in very poor
                    condition). The four leaves seem to belong to the original book, while the
                    bifolium appears to be somewhat later and may derive from elsewhere.

                now conserved as <ref type="mss">Turku, Provincial Archives of Turku, The Rauma Magistrate’s
                  Archives, HD:1</ref>. The fragment comes from a <title>Dominican gradual</title>, and is written in
                Gothic textualis of <date from="1300" to="1399">saec. XIV</date> (possibly from <placeName>France</placeName>?) (1 folio, parchment, 22,5 × 37
                (19,5 × 26). Text and notation in one column on ten lines).</p>
              <p>The contents are as follow: [recto] [ma]nus enim mea auxiliabitur …confortabit eum.
                  <hi rend="italic">offertorium</hi>. … tue … <hi rend="italic">tempore
                  resurrectionis</hi>. [allelu]ia. <hi rend="italic">offertorium</hi>. Desidera--- …
                in capite …. <hi rend="italic">tempore resurrectionis</hi> … <hi rend="italic"
                  >commune</hi> … constituet eum [<hi rend="italic">verso</hi>] <hi rend="italic"
                  >commune</hi> D--- …audisti michi ecce a … euge serue fidelis qui … commune. Fide
                … testes in celo.</p>
              <p>A <date from="1500" to="1599">saec. XVI</date> hand has added in the lower margin of the recto-side, at a right angle
                to the original text, verses from the hymn <hi rend="italic">Caeperit faustis
                  auibus</hi>.</p>
              <p>‘---meliore fato hic nouus sudor … aspice Jesu Hic rudis tamquam … sobolem’.</p>
              <p>This leaf is in very poor condition as a result not only of its reuse as a cover
                but also because of a heavy-handed use of reagents (for a description see <bibl>Lähteenoja
                  1931</bibl>): the parchment shows staining and apparent oxidization, which would appear to
                have resulted from treatment with chemicals.</p>
